POEMS: He is gone & Winnowed Grain

He is gone
The night that took him away and
Never brought him back to me!
We had a little quarrel. He left me
And was gone with the night.
The night that took him away.

I took it to be a light quarrel
As the saying goes:
What at all do lovers not do?
But he has forgotten about the old saying
And has gone with the night.
The night that took him away.

Oh, what a wicked night!
The night that has nearly shown me
The way to my doom,
I curse you!
I shall always curse you.
Oh, wicked night that took him away
He is gone and
Gone with the night.
The night that took him away and
Never brought him back to me.

Winnowed Grain
I bit my lips in disgust;
But then the ill had already befallen
Never to be righted again!
Like winnowed grain
She is separated chaff from me
Joining the great majority with her beauty!
Oh! My sweetheart is no more.
