Wandering Thoughts

There! Stooping in obeisance
To an unknown god,
Bestowing reverence
In silent aquiescence
Shrouded in myth
The tales unravel
On subservient tongues,
Tales of ancestors
Invoked to inspire
Bravery and valour
But it fails!
  The power
  Of legends
  And shadowy myths
  Is breathing apart
  In the hardening face
  Of alien influence
They very roots
  That support
  The  ancestral tree
  Are being eaten away
  By worms of doubt
  Bred and fattened
  In foreign lands!
